Celebrating Our Family Story With A Wall Gallery

When I walk down my steps to go out of my front door, I pass through a gallery of framed prints lining the walls of my stairs.  It’s like walking through a photo album of some of our sweetest moments from the time my boys were babies up through the present day.  It’s a gallery that grows with our family, and of course, it features some of my favorite artwork!  Our boys enjoy looking at the photos and talking about which portraits are their’s, how old they were, and what was happening at that time.

First Birthday Portraits: Let Them Eat Cake!

I really enjoy cake and I love seeing others enjoy it too!  Like at weddings when the bride and groom feed each other. But even better than that is when a baby turns one and the family celebrates with a smash cake.  Here’s a sweet baby boy and his loving family that are sure to brighten your day.  We held the cake for the end of the session, naturally!  So we started with some family portraits in the living room and then went to the birthday boy’s room where his mom decorated his crib.

Sewickley Family Session: Have Some Fun with Your Photos

As a parent, I’m always thinking about what I can do to make experiences more fun for my kids and for me!  And I really like this mama’s approach to her family portraits.  She chose Beaver Street in Sewickley where we could stop by a park, walk by storefronts on the sidewalk, and if they were good, she promised a visit to the bakery where her 4-year old twins could pick out a treat.  Little reminders of the promise of a reward were great motivators and I think the photos speak for themselves, these cutie pies had fun!  And when I dropped off their album and wall art, the kids had so much to say about our photoshoot when they were reminded by seeing their photos.

Photographing the Whole Family: Extended Family Portraits

I’ve noticed a bit of a trend toward large family portraits this year. It must be related to families being apart during the pandemic. And these families have inspired me to capture our extended family as well. It is so meaningful to see everyone together, especially after these past two years.

Photographing Safely in a Pandemic: Maternity Through First Birthday Sessions

One of my favorite things about being a family photographer is getting to photograph a family through the milestones. It is so much fun to see a family grow and help them to capture that growth. I first met this family for their maternity and newborn sessions. And last month, we got to document their daughter’s first birthday. It was a bit mind-blowing for me to realize that all happened during this pandemic. But these are the good things that make me so thankful that I can work and keep my clients safe.
