I just met this sweet boy for the first time during his photo shoot and it seemed to me that he was having the time of his life!  His parents tickled him and he giggled. And I think his parents were also tickled with his adorably enthusiastic response to being photographed.

This little guy has his own version of crawling and we all had a blast watching him go from one end of the room to the other.  I love having the opportunity to capture these milestones for families in a baby’s first year.

Pros and Cons of Waiting Until Baby is Older

Newborn sessions are usually scheduled within the first month after a baby is born.  But since the pandemic, there are more and more parents waiting later to have their baby photographed.  Instead of sleepy baby photos, they get photos with more expression and personality.  And the ability to capture that latest milestone is a bonus, whether it be sitting, crawling, or first steps!

I’ve notices some parents at newborn sessions want to have their baby photographed with their eyes open.  And most of the time that happens at some point throughout a session.  But when they’re just a little bit older, there’s so much more in their expression.

I set my studio up so that it feels and looks like home with a bed and a couch.  It’s so much fun having furniture that allows families to be comfortable and create more casual, authentic portraits.

If you have a baby and didn’t get to newborn photos, there’s no wrong time to schedule a photo shoot.  I enjoy photographing babies of all ages, so please reach out!
