Frequently Asked Questions
How to book a session?
Send me a message and I’ll follow up with some questions so that I can better understand your vision for the session. We’ll also discuss availability and I’ll put together a contract that will officially book your session. Your session fee is due at the time of booking.
What kind of sessions do you offer?
I specialize in on-location lifestyle photography and offer maternity, newborn, children’s, family, and senior portrait sessions. Sessions take place at the location of your choice—in your home, a nearby park, or someplace special to personalize your session. Check out my Locations page for nearby suggestions. Sessions are customized to your needs and can take place in a location that reflects a passion or hobby, or simply embrace the beauty of everyday life.
Do you do weddings?
I started out photographing weddings and still love to photograph them to this day, but I don’t have as much time to dedicate to weddings as I used to, so I accept a limited number of bookings in engagement and wedding photography each year. My wedding coverage is set at 6 hours, so if you’re looking for good quality photography and want to stay on budget, we might be a good fit! Contact me about availability and I’d be happy to chat with you about how to make the most out of your photography. Pricing starts at $1500.
What is your photographic style?
I like to mix lifestyle photography with creative portraiture to capture everyday beauty in the best light. My style has a natural feel with an emphasis on emotion and personality rather than props and backdrops. And shooting your session on-location, whether it be in your home or some other place that’s special to you, makes your portraits even more personal, documenting your life in that given time and place.
How should I prepare for my session?
Check out my Getting Ready page where I cover what to wear and how to prepare.
What do I get with my session?
Your one-hour session includes 20 edited digital files (chosen by the photographer) with printing rights. You’ll receive an online proofing gallery (active for one month) where you can download the full-resolution files, order professional prints, and share with family and friends!
What are professional prints?
Professional prints by Captivating Imagery are printed at our lab for accurate brightness, color and highest quality. I offer a 100% money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied with your print order by Captivating Imagery.
Can I share a session with another family?
Session fees cover the immediate family only. Please contact us to discuss multi-family portrait options.
What if I need to reschedule?
If you need to reschedule, please get in touch 24-hours in advance of your session. When rescheduling, please keep in mind that sessions book at least 2 weeks in advance. In the case of cancellation, the session fee is non-refundable.
What if the weather does not cooperate on the day of my session?
If inclement weather or other adverse conditions interfere with your session, I’ll be in touch to discuss relocating or rescheduling the session.
When should I book my maternity or newborn session?
Maternity and newborn sessions are best booked during the second trimester of your pregnancy so that we can anticipate these time-sensitive sessions as you get closer to your due date. The best time to photograph your maternity session is between weeks 34 and 36 of pregnancy. The best time for a newborn session is within the baby’s first two weeks when babies are sleepiest. However, that’s not a hard-and-fast rule.
