Aimee and John tied the knot two Saturdays ago on a bright Fall day. Their wedding day brought with it two new venues (well new to me, and it’s always nice to add new venues to the list) with the ceremony at Knoxville United Presbyterian Church in the South Hills. What a lovely little church tucked right in the middle of a Pittsburgh neighborhood. And it was just a short drive to their reception at the Wendell Inn, a large old building that looks like it might once have been a school with a beautiful ballroom on the top floor. Anyway, I’m getting out of order here, let’s start with Aimee and her bridesmaids getting ready at the Marriott Spring Hill Suites at the Southside Works.

Colleen and Jeremy are college sweethearts. They’re proud Pitt alumns and after spending time photographing them during their engagement session and wedding, I think they must have been the “it” couple in many circles at Pitt. They are adorable together. And while there were rain clouds and chilly temperatures on their wedding day, they didn’t let it get them down—their ceremony and reception just radiated with warmth and happiness.
We started with Colleen and her bridesmaids getting ready at Styles By Cardamone in Regent Square and then caught up with Jeremy and the gang at their hotel room in Oakland.
Emily and Dan were married on a sunny Saturday in September at the beautiful Shadyside Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh. As a wedding photographer, I had some reservations about the church’s photography policy, being that only two photos are permitted to be taken from the sanctuary during the processional. But before I get to that, I have to say that there was no shortage of lovely moments throughout the day and Alex and I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it. Emily got ready with her bridesmaids at MCN Salon in the East End.

Janna and Joshua were married on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend at the Mayernick Center, about a 20-minute drive from downtown Pittsburgh, and the word I think best describes their day is joy. As a wedding photographer, I get to see a lot from the beginning of the day to the end, from behind the scenes to the moment when all eyes are set on the bride and groom. And I love that part about my job. Each wedding has a different vibe and the variations that come with each wedding can really fuel my creative energy. And sometimes there are weddings that remind me of my own or what I would do if Brad and I could do it all over again. In some ways Janna and Josh’s wedding really reminded me of mine and I really enjoyed being a part of it.

It was a real treat to photograph the wedding of longtime sweethearts Jacqui and Mike two Saturdays ago. They were married at the Double Tree Hotel in Moon Township in a lovely courtyard outside with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the 90s! For us Pittsburghers, it almost felt like a destination wedding in the tropics.
We met up with Jacqui at her parents’ home not too far from the hotel. The ladies got ready there for Jacqui and Mike’s first look.
