Pittsburgh Wedding Photography at Phipps Conservatory and Hyeholde

Whew! I’m a bit behind on my blogging after a very busy month of May with lots and lots of shooting. It’s been great and I’ll have lots to show for it in the next few weeks, but now I’d like to focus on a beautiful wedding that took place at Phipps Conservatory. Stephanie and Ed were married in the Broderie room and it couldn’t have been lovelier! Between the lush greenery at Phipps and the beautiful blooms in Stephanie’s bouquet by Hepatica, I can’t think of the last time I saw such gorgeous flowers.

Charleston, SC Destination Wedding Photography

Most of my weddings take place in Pittsburgh, but I love to travel, so traveling to photograph a destination wedding is such a treat! Courtney and Matt were married in Charleston, South Carolina (see sneak peek here) at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. And it was such a lovely day at a gorgeous location with lots of fabulous details! I think that’s probably a run-on sentence, but my grammar falls by the wayside when I get excited about something.

Here’s the complete scoop on Megan and Zak’s wedding photography. You might want to check out my previous sneak peek as well. This was such a lovely day and it was so much fun to work with Megan and Zak. We started at her parent’s home where Megan and her bridesmaids were getting ready. I really love the design on the back of Megan’s dress. And she looked so pretty in it! And Zak surprised her with a limo for the day—what a sweet groom!

Sneak Peek: Charleston, SC – Destination Wedding Photographer

A big Congrats to Courtney and Matt, dear friends of mine who were just married in Charleston, South Carolina. They planned a gorgeous destination wedding there at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina and I so happy to have been a part of it. This sneak peek was hard to do because I had a hard time narrowing down the photos to share, but I’ll share lots more in the full blog post sometime next week.

getting ready

Courtney looked absolutely stunning. I’m partial of course, but she just beamed. And she had an amazing garland of orchids and ivy to wear in lieu of a bouquet.

And Matt and his groomsmen were staying cool as they waited for the ceremony to begin on the pier over the harbor.

The pier made for an awesome aisle for Courtney and her dad to walk down. In my next post, I’ll share an image of the shoes she wore and it just baffles me to think about how she walked down the pier so gracefully in her stilettos.

Their ceremony was really sweet with nervous giggles and a fun story from Courtney’s childhood. But, what I loved most was the way they looked into one another’s eyes.

The bridal party was a fun group. And they all look so good together!

We walked back to the beach for some more photos before heading to the reception.

I also wanted to share a photo of Courtney’s bridesmaids and this one kept coming back to me because they are having so much fun in it. One of the bridesmaids felt something slide down her backside, it was a bobby pin and the photos that followed were pretty funny.

And last, but not least, here’s a portrait of the lovebirds.

Courtney and Matt, congratulations! I am so happy for you two and pray that you will be blessed beyond measure!

Pittsburgh Engagement Session: North Shore and West Park

We met up with Valerie and Tom for their engagement session on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, early on a bright Saturday morning a few weeks ago. Alex joined me for this session as some extra added support as I was just getting over some food poisoning. It’s always nice to have such great support in moments when you don’t know if you’re going to toss your cookies! Thankfully, we made it through the session with no incidents and were feeling warm and bright—because it’s hard not to feel that way when you’re hanging out with Valerie and Tom. They are incredibly cute together and so much fun to photograph!

engaged couple

I love photographing couples on the North Shore. That will never get old for me. There’s just something about being down by the river and the view of the city that’s magic no matter what time of the day.

The sun was unmercifully bright, so it made for a lovely opportunity for back-lit portraits. Plus, Valerie and Tom wouldn’t have to squint with the sun in their eyes.

Then we headed over to West Park on Pittsburgh’s North Side to photograph them in a more casual setting. I love this shot by Alex.

The trees were in bloom and the water sparkled, so while it was a little chilly, there’s no telling in these photos. But I guess that had more to do with the warmth between Valerie and Tom than the park’s surroundings.

soon-to-be husband and wife

Tom’s more flirty and Valerie’s more shy. I love that combination.

Tom is from Texas, so they both had these awesome boots that you’d never be able to find in Pittsburgh.

I think their wedding is going to be lots of fun!

Valerie and Tom, thanks for a great session and we’re looking forward to photographing your big day in June!
