Studio Newborn Session with the Whole Family

I’m often asked by families if my newborn sessions are limited to just babies.  And this surprises me because I feel the family is a very important part in the story of a newborn.   I absolutely encourage the whole family to be a part of the session and that sometimes even includes the family dog!  I remember back to when my youngest son was born.  One of my main desires for his newborn session was capturing my two boys together.  And I feel the same way about capturing baby with each parent.  To me, that is more important than having lots of posed images of baby alone.

Cranberry Photo Studio Newborn Session

This newborn session in our Cranberry Photo Studio was meant to look like it took place at home.  With a bed, a crib, and plenty of natural light, this family is beaming with love.

Cranberry Engagement Session: Let It Snow!

I’m pretty sure I mentioned this here before, but I love photographing people in the snow!  This couple is planning a winter wedding and when they asked about an engagement session, we found it only fitting to wait for those snowflakes to start falling.  And boy, did we get  a lot of that this winter!

Pittsburgh Newborn Session: Gifting A Session

This recent session was a gift from a mom to her daughter and son-in-law and I love the thoughtfulness from this new grandma.  She’s giving her daughter’s family the opportunity to capture the sweetness of this precious, fleeting time.  And it’s a gift that she’ll probably enjoy just as much as her daughter!

Pittsburgh Newborn Photographer: Staying Warm During Cozy In-Home Sessions

Looking back on this newborn session from August, I’m recalling a lesson learned that seems very apt for this cold snowy day.

hello baby!

hello baby!

This tiny sweetheart was having a rough day. She was fussy, though I don’t think you’d know it from these photos, but I could tell this mama was feeling defeated because her baby girl just wasn’t feeling it.

The session went long because we were trying everything. Toward the end of the session, I suggested going outside because I thought she’d like the fresh air and a change of atmosphere and we ended up discovering that this baby girl was probably cold! Immediately, she settled and went right to sleep. Even though her home was a comfortable temperature inside on this hot, summer day, with the outfit changes and bare skin, baby girl was cold!
