Callie and Brian were married in September and I had the pleasure of second-shooting the wedding with Alex, who is normally my sidekick on weddings by Captivating Imagery. It was a fun opportunity to switch it up. Because of the tight schedule for Callie and Brian’s wedding day, we added a third shooter, Erica, who helped to capture some of the fantastic details at Callie and Brian’s wedding. So naturally, this post is a collaborative effort.
Rebecca and Patrick were married two Saturdays ago at Heinz Chapel with their reception at the Renaissance Pittsburgh. It was a fabulous day and we made a couple of stops from the church to the reception for some fun portraits. Before I get ahead of myself, let’s start with some of the details.
I really like this portrait of Rebecca. I wonder what she was thinking here—other than the fact that my camera is in her face…
Their colors were pink and green. And their lovely flowers were arranged by Blumengarten.
This portrait is by Alex. I love the angle and quiet feel—it was taken right before the ceremony.
Here’s another favorite by Alex. The light and timing are just right.
Heinz Chapel is a stunning venue for a ceremony. Thanks again to Alex for the next two.
We walked across the street to the Mellon Institute for a couple of portraits of the bridal party and the bride and groom. This group had fun with it and I love how their personalities shine.
This might be my all-time favorite of the day. I think it’s because I’ve always loved spending time in Market Square and I was really excited that Rebecca and Patrick wanted to stop there for photos.
I went to school at Point Park University and worked there later as managing editor of their alumni magazine, so PPG is another personal favorite hang-out downtown. I’m crazy about this fountain and how it just spouts out from the plaza floor. And something about being there with the fountain in full force brought some excitement to their faces.
The ballroom at the Renaissance Pittsburgh had a wall of windows that made it a delight to photograph the reception. Just love the light on them while they’re cutting the cake. Couldn’t ask for a better set-up.
Alex caught this sweet moment during their first dance. Aren’t these two are adorable together!
Here’s another first dance shot. What’s fun about this one is the shadow from one of my off-camera lights. I can’t take credit for preconceiving this one. It’s serendipity.
We ducked outside for a few minutes for some night-time portraits. I highly recommend doing this—it’s fun for the bride and groom and the photographer! Images like this one are so great as a way to complete the story of their day in the wedding album.
Becky and Pat, many blessings to you and your marriage! It was such a pleasure to be part of your day.

Samantha and Chris’ wedding had lots of charming details. They had a sense of whimsy that really complimented the barn. From the playful color scheme of pink and green, to the centerpieces filled with tubes of candies that doubled as favors—the details really came together in a fun way.
Here’s what their centerpieces looked like. Under the pom poms were tubes filled with a variety of candies.
I like this photo by Pamela Marie who second shot with me that day:
Samantha wore these killer shoes with her gown.
This cake was really nicely done. I didn’t get the details on the bakery, but wish I would have.
When possible, I like to linger near the bride and her father before they walk down the aisle. I’ve found that most dads come up with something funny to say to interrupt the pre-ceremony jitters.
The ceremony took place in a large gazebo behind the barn.
This is another one by Pamela. I really appreciate these types of details while I’m focusing on posing and photographing the couple.
This one was taken while they walked back to their car after our mini session at McConnells Mill.
I love their expressions in this one. They were having such a great time. Their wedding party was egging them on to smash cake in one another’s face, but Samantha and Chris weren’t having it. They were just as sweet as the cake itself.
I think this photo of them walking back to the barn is a good way to conclude the day. You could tell they were enjoying a little alone time as they made their way back to the reception.
Samantha and Chris, thanks so much for the opportunity to be a part of your day! Many blessings to you and your marriage!

Katie and John’s wedding had some terrific details. Katie’s flowers were shades of pink, white and green with roses, orchids and hydrangea and they were lovely from the moment her florist dropped them off well into the night and that’s something considering the humidity and heat that day. Their favors read, “Hugs and Kisses from the New Mr. & Mrs.” on the bottom of their Hershey kisses. How can you not smile when you read that? Katie wore a crystal necklace and earrings that sparkled – actually Katie sparkled in every way. Did I mention the cookie table? There wasn’t a cookie that I didn’t like – they were delicious! And lastly, they had guests sign rocks as keepsakes in lieu of a guest book. And the display was as cool as the concept with an aluminum dish, moss, orchids and tea lights. More to come of this wedding soon!
