Birthday Party Photography: Enjoy Your Party And Let Me Capture It For You

I had the pleasure of documenting this sweet two-year old’s birthday party at Party Lane in Mars, Pa. It was a snowy weeknight and as I was driving to the party, I was concerned that the turnout would be a disappointment, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a terrific turnout for this sweet little girl. She is a huge Toy Story fan, so her mama went all out and threw her a party complete with a visit from Buzz Lightyear!

Party Lane is a fantastic place for little ones to play and it made an awesome setting for this party.

They may have turned down the lights, but this little one’s smile lit the whole room! Happy birthday sweet girl!

Happy birthday!

Time for a quick family portrait!

This mama said she wanted to be able to enjoy her daughter’s party without having her phone out the whole time to take photos. That way, she could savor the moments and let the photo-taking up to a pro!

yummy cake!

Also, lighting like this can be a challenge for your average cell phone, so having properly exposed, color-corrected photos is another bonus!

I didn’t include photos of any of the other guests at this party because I don’t have permission from those families and want to respect their privacy. But just look at this cutie pie taking a phone call!

Birthday parties sure are fun!

I’d say, this mama adores her little girl, wouldn’t you?

On-location Maternity Session in Hershey, Pennsylvania

This last post of 2011 is near and dear to my heart. While visiting with my family in Hershey, Pa., my sister and her husband sat for a maternity session in a guest room at my parents’ home. Well, now it’s a guest room/baby room because as you will see, my mom has everything ready to go for her first grandchild. I normally do maternity sessions in the studio, so this was a good opportunity to find new ways to show what a special time this is for expecting parents.

Betsy and Steve are going to be great parents. It’s easy to see that they are going to make sure their little baby has everything she needs (and more!)

They picked out a name for their baby girl and it’s top-secret! I guess we’ll have to wait until February.

Bets and Steve, thanks for the opportunity to photograph your maternity session. I can’t wait to meet your baby girl. I love her already and have been praying for her! God bless you!

Pittsburgh Wedding Photography at St. Frances Cabrini Parish and The Club at Shadow Lakes

Congratulations to Jen and Tim! It’s been about two weeks since I photographed their Pittsburgh wedding and these newlyweds will soon celebrate their first holidays as husband and wife. So sweet! Anyway, I just finished editing their wedding and have lots to share about these honeymooners. To start, Jen wore a beautiful gown with a full skirt and a higher waist. I love this style. It’s a nice change after a season of drop waist gowns.

She wore a sixpence in her shoe for good luck. Thanks to Alex for the next two photos!

Pittsburgh Wedding Photographers Sneak peek: St. Frances Cabrini Parish and The Club at Shadow Lakes wedding

I had the pleasure of photographing Jennifer and Timothy’s wedding in Beaver County two Saturdays ago. I’m a Beaver County gal though I live in Pittsburgh now, so it was fun to work in some familiar locations. Plus Jennifer and Timothy were tons of fun and their wedding day schedule allowed enough time for them to enjoy the day without feeling rushed. This is a major plus when it comes to photography, where rushing is not so good, that can be a total mood-killer! Anyway, this is a sneak peek and I’m already rambling on. Let’s get to the good stuff.

Isn’t Jennifer lovely?

I really like this one of the two of them. Jennifer is standing on a curb because Timothy is quite a lot taller than her.

Sarah and John’s reception at the Days Inn in Butler, Pa.

I mentioned a couple of posts ago, that Sarah and John were married in Texas in the fall of last year. For family and friends who were not able to make it to their wedding, they held a second reception in Butler on Valentine’s Day. It was a Sunday evening reception and it made for a special way to celebrate the holiday with their friends and family.

Rose bouquet

Sarah carried a simple and elegant bouquet of red and white roses.

Cookie table

Their cookie table did not disappoint. There were plenty of scrupmtious treats and it was tough to choose!

Flower girl

This sweet flower girl is signing their “guest plate,” a more functional alternative to the usual book.

The happy couple

Here’s the happy couple in between welcoming their guests to the reception.

Sweethearts

It’s easy to see how Sarah and her little girl adore one another.

During the toast

Sarah’s a natural beauty and looks stunning in her white fur stole.

The bride and groom

Bridal dance

They had all of the traditional elements of a wedding reception and were announced into the room, toasted by several loved ones, and shared a first dance and father/daughter and mother/son dances.

Spinning

Did I mention that Sarah’s from Texas? Check out the cowgirl boots she’s rocking under her dress.

Cake cutting

Their cup cakes were delicious. I usually don’t get a chance to eat cake, but when my job was done at the close of the reception, I couldn’t resist helping myself.

Thanks again Sarah and John! It was so much fun to photograph your Pa. reception!
