2012 Contemporary Album Featuring Photograph from a Pittsburgh Center for the Arts Wedding

In my last post, I introduced the 2012 Captivating Imagery Wedding Album Collection and unveiled the Classic Album. Today, I’m excited to share the Contemporary Album featuring images from Katherine and Robert’s lovely July wedding at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Like the Classic Album, the Contemporary Album is a flush mount album in a rectangular 10″ x 7″ format rather than the traditional square. This 20-page album is designed as 10 spreads so that the photos stretch right across the gutter, or the crease in the center for the binding. So you’re seeing what the pages look like side-by-side when you open the album. For now, I’m just showing the design for the pages, but the cover is a dark red alligator leather to compliment Katherine’s color scheme and it looks great!

Oh and the actual album is not watermarked—that’s just for the website.

I love Mellon Park—I think I must have shared that a million times already. So sorry for my redundancy! But I was thrilled that Katherine and Robert would be exchanging vows there. It was a beautiful, sunny day and the walled garden was a lovely setting.

It’s tough to select images to include in the album when you have upwards of 500 to choose from. But this image of them kissing on the right is, by far, my favorite of the day. I love their embrace and the emotion in their family members who officiated the ceremony.

And here comes my favorite part of the day—this is where image selection really gets tough.

Katherine and Robert are dog lovers and they really wanted a photo with their pugs, so they made arrangements with a friend to bring the pugs to the park for a few shots and then take them back home. These little guys were so great! They nearly stole the show!

This next spread takes some explaining—the Cascade bottle is what brought Katherine and Robert back together after years of being apart since they dated in high school. Katherine ran out of detergent and went to the grocery store to pick some up. They ran into each other at the store and have been together ever since. It was really sweet to see how she incorporated little details like this one into their wedding day.

The food by Tallulah’s Catering was delicious and Joy, the PCA’s director of special events, was fabulous. So this spread is a tribute to their success.

Katherine and Robert and their guests were really having a great time and really celebrated on the dance floor.

This last spread has a lovely image by Alex. Alex’s photos are sprinkled throughout this post, but this one of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts deserves special recognition. Thanks Alex!

Next up, I’ll be sharing the design for the Chic album featuring photos from Callie and Brian’s September wedding.

Pittsburgh Wedding Photography at the Double Tree Hotel

It was a real treat to photograph the wedding of longtime sweethearts Jacqui and Mike two Saturdays ago. They were married at the Double Tree Hotel in Moon Township in a lovely courtyard outside with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the 90s! For us Pittsburghers, it almost felt like a destination wedding in the tropics.

We met up with Jacqui at her parents’ home not too far from the hotel. The ladies got ready there for Jacqui and Mike’s first look.

Pittsburgh Jewish Orthodox Wedding Photography at the Omni Willaim Penn

Ok, I’m just getting back to blogging about Chayala and Shloime’s wedding. It’s been a busy week, so the photography from the weddings of Jacqui and Mike, Janna and Josh, and Callie and Brian is up next. But first things first, Chayala and Shloime’s wedding was full of excitement and I thoroughly enjoyed documenting their day. We started with Chayala in her room at the Omni William Penn where she had her make-up and hair done. And then we met up with Shloime in the hotel lobby for a few finishing touches.

Sneak Peek: Jewish Orthodox Wedding Photography at the Omni William Penn in Pittsburgh

I had the pleasure of photographing Chayala and Shloime’s wedding at the stunning Omni William Penn this past week.  And I’m excited to share this sneak peek of some of my favorite portraits from the day.  It was a full day of fun with all of the traditions that come with a Jewish Orthodox wedding, and I will have tons of photos to share from their ceremony and reception in my next post.  There are also more great portraits to share once I’m done with the edit on this wedding, but for now here are a few teasers.   The first two portraits are by Alex.

We headed over to Mellon Square for a few portraits of the lovely Chayala. We had great weather and Chayala really had fun with it. What a great start to the day!

Then we met up with Shloime for some portraits in the lobby. I really like that they allowed time in their schedule for portraits before the ceremony. It was nice to get to spend some time with them and they both just shined. I couldn’t wait to see them together for the first time as man and wife!

After the ceremony, we did a few more portraits of the two of them together around the hotel and out on Grant Street. This one by Alex, is really magical. They just waited for the walking signal and then Shloime turned Chayala across the cross walk. I love dancing shots and the city lights in the background are another weakness of mine, so this is a new favorite for sure!

And here’s one more shot of the two of them in the lobby before we headed up to their reception. Stay tuned for more to come next week!

Callie and Brian’s Engagement Session

Alex and I met up with Callie and Brian at their venue in the North Hills of Pittsburgh last week for a fun engagement session. Their wedding is taking place this September at the home where Callie grew up and I have to say, I’m really looking forward to their big day. We started out in the barn overlooking their reception site. This fantastic image is by Alex—we took turns on and off between shooting and holding diffusion up above them to soften the light.

We stayed in one general location to save time because Callie and Brian were only in town for a very short visit. And sometimes it’s nice to simplify the number of locations. I think we settled into some nice shots because of it!

They’re such a sweet couple. I loved seeming them flirt.

If I had to pick a favorite, it would be this one for sure!

I just love how Callie is looking at Brian here. Judging by the sweetness oozing from this engagement session, I think their wedding will make me swoon.
